We design products for those who share a love of the outdoors; its ever-changing landscapes, natural textures, rich hues, percussive rain and luminous reflections. For those who seek a moment of calm every day, amidst the chaos.

On Good Authority is inspired by our relationship with nature, the environment and unpredictable weather cycles. Our collection is founded on three key principles:

We design classic silhouettes with a modern twist. We don’t follow the trends, but we take elements that we love and translate them into quality garments that are easy to wear, stylish, and that last a lifetime. We've thought long and hard about what our end consumer wants, because we are the end consumer. Our jackets are built by women for women and every detail counts.

Our jackets are fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. All of our jackets achieve a waterproof rating of 10,000HH and a breathability rating of 10,000GM and every seam is sealed with a waterproof tape preventing water leakage. We use PFC-free DWR on the surfaces to repel water and PTFE-free lamination to prevent saturation.

We know that the people making our garments work in a safe environment and are paid fairly. Our fabrics are made from recycled fibres as much as possible, requiring less water and energy in production, and emitting less carbon into the atmosphere. We are a vegan brand: no leather, no feathers, no fur.

Founders Sara and Hannah at Glastonbury Festival

We are Sara and Hannah and we live in London.

Tired of the persistent clatter of the city but not willing to leave it, we found ourselves searching for calm whenever we could. Whether that was escaping to the countryside at the weekend, or just appreciating a moment in the urban landscape, we realised that our favourite experiences always happened when we were outside. But we were frustrated by the existing rainwear offering. Sporty, rustl-y; it didn’t suit our lifestyle or way of living.

Our story really starts at a particularly rainy Glastonbury in 2016. Relentless wet weather meant we spent five days in our practical hiking jackets. It was ok - they kept us dry. But that was all. We didn’t love wearing them, or feel like they reflected us. Why the compromise between style and practicality?

Our complimentary skill sets meant that this was a problem we could actually solve. Sara has worked in fashion for 15 years, for well known outerwear brands, specialising in rainwear. Hannah has a strong background in branding, communications and digital. The idea of On Good Authority was born, and our passion project is now finally becoming a reality.

We are soft-launching this September with a limited run of the black and white Kimono. Once our business starts to establish and grow, we have a number of beautiful silhouettes already designed and ready to manufacture that we can’t wait to add to the collection. We are in the process of fundraising now to allow us to introduce these designs more quickly. You can follow us on Instagram to stay updated on our journey; we will share our learnings on sustainable fashion design and production, as well as product previews and imagery that we hope will help bring that moment of calm to your every day. Or sign up to our mailing list and we'll keep you posted about our product launches, company updates and special promotions.
